Teaching objectives
At the end of this course, the student will be able:
- To understand how to write scientific documents in english as well as the use and translation of scientific terms.
- To collect information as possible in order to use it later in their spoken presentation or in their written reports.
- To express and communicate in English both in written and spoken forms
- To understand how to write scientific documents in english as well as the use and translation of scientific terms.
Content of the course
1. Scientific Terminology.
2. Study and understanding of text.
3. Written and oral expression technique (report, synthesis, use of means of
modern communications).
4. Expression and communication in a group. Study of proposed texts (observe,
analyze, take stock, written expression).
PART 02 : TCE2 Directed Works (TD)
Educational content – Pedagogically, in this series, the student is equipped for effective learning. Firstly, he has a self-assessment system combined with a checklist and can clearly establish what he needs to learn. Then the repeated use of the elements makes it possible to optimize learning.
This series of Directed work (TD) is essentially divided into 4 units. Each unit corresponds to a basic function of scientific English:
- Measurement
- Comparaison
- Frequency
- Modification
et includes:
- Entry test – This test allows you to immediately make a realistic assessment of your level; too frequently, learning is hindered by the student's ignorance of his or her own shortcomings.
- Key points – Key points should be considered a checklist, indicating all the elements that need to be known. Thus, and after having completed the entry test, the student is in a position, from the start of the unit, to determine precisely what he must do, that is to say his "learning contract ".
- Exercises – These are the exercises which allow you to put the language into practice, to manipulate it and therefore to assimilate it. These are characterized by a continual repetition and reuse of functions and vocabulary, so that at the end of the course any student "cannot have not learned".
- Checkpoints – are another innovation designed to allow review and deepening for learning: In other words – Knowing how to reformulate is an essential skill for learners who, by definition, have difficulty making themselves understood.
- Back to basics – This exercise gives the student the opportunity to take stock of their own knowledge and, then, gives them the tools to get rid of their mistakes.
- The word web – This exercise gives the opportunity to return to lexical families, homonyms and synonyms, formation and structure and to deepen them.
- Exit test – each unit ends with an exit test where the student can make an objective assessment of their progress and draw conclusions.
